Bingo patterns are the shapes you must complete on a 5x5 card to win a round, and the shape decides how long you wait. This page lists eleven of the common ones with the number of squares each needs. They belong to the wider family on the bingo games pillar, and the rows below work on any 75-ball card, online or on paper.

Eleven bingo patterns and the squares they need

Rows and columns are counted from the top left. The centre square is free, so the last column shows how many numbers must actually be called when the shape includes it.

Shapes with a smaller last column tend to arrive sooner, but a pattern is only a count of squares: it says nothing about how often any card wins.

Lines, corners and stamps

The short patterns are the ones new players meet first. A single line is the classic win and the quickest to read, and four corners is easy to track because you only watch four spots. The postage stamp is a small square of four, usually tucked into one corner.

  1. Single line: mark five in a row, down, across or diagonally.
  2. Four corners: watch the first and last number of the top and bottom rows.
  3. Postage stamp: mark a 2x2 block in the corner the game names.

Letters and frames

The letter shapes ask for more squares and more attention. The X needs both diagonals and shares the free centre, so it asks for eight called numbers, while the picture frame needs all sixteen outer squares. The T, L and Z follow the letters they are named after, and the plus sign is the middle row crossed with the middle column.

When a game announces a letter, read the shape on the screen before the first draw, because some halls draw the letter slightly differently. The game’s own pattern line is the final word.

Blackout and full house

The full card is the slowest win. On a 75-ball card it is 24 called numbers plus the free square, and on a 90-ball ticket a full house is all 15 numbers. Many rounds run the lesser patterns first and finish on the full card, so keep marking after a line wins.

Using the table in a round

Count squares, not hopes. Before you buy a card:

  1. Find the announced pattern in the table.
  2. Note its last column, the numbers you wait for.
  3. Decide whether that wait suits your budget. To see how a round runs from purchase to the win call, read how to play bingo in five steps. To see what changes when software does the marking, read the electronic bingo overview.

FAQ

How many squares does a full house need on a 75-ball card?

All 25 squares, which means 24 called numbers because the centre square is free. On a 90-ball ticket a full house means all 15 numbers.

Does the free centre square count in every pattern?

It counts in any pattern that passes through the middle, such as the middle row, the middle column, the X, the plus sign and the T. Patterns like four corners and postage stamp never touch it.

Which pattern needs the fewest numbers?

Four corners and the postage stamp each need four squares, and a line through the centre needs only four called numbers. Round pattern rules differ, so read the one the game announces.

Paano ko malalaman kung anong pattern ang panalo?

Nakasulat ang pattern sa screen ng round bago magsimula ang draw. Basahin ito bago ka bumili ng card, dahil iba-iba ang pattern bawat laro.
